OBJECTIVE The objective is to develop a new scientific approach toward studying art objects namely paintings without having the need for cut sample for scientific testing as a destructive mean of the art work.

STRUCTURE
The InfrArtSonic project is a Collaboration of an international Consortium grouping several Mediterranean academic and scientific Professional institutions from the European union and Arab world: Greece, Germany, Italy, Cyprus, Jordan, Egypt, and Lebanon.
Members are engaged to provide specific tasks performed by representative chosen multidisciplinary researchers in the fields of engineering, physics, chemistry, IT management, 3D Imaging, cultural heritage, art historian, conservation and restoration and archeology.

Their tasks are to provide the historical and technical data base and the mechanical engineering for the structure and the making of a testing device.

The European Union funds the project on three years term. On his 2 days visit to Lebanon, Dr Giorgio's Karagianis, (PhD in engineering) InfrArtSonic project coordinator from Ormilya Art Diagnosis Centre, GREECE, will present the outcomes of InfrArtSonic project.
With the end of the second year of continuous research and development, the InfrArtSonic team had finally realized the prototype put already into action.

The presentation will disclose the work performed by the University of Balamand, Saint John Institute of Theology represented in the InfrArtSonic by M. Gaby Maamary (Professor of history of art at ALBA, Balamand. Conservator of the icon collection of the patriarchal monastery of Balamand (2005-2007). Member of Cordis, Europa, EU.
